Hi all,
Well my old su fuel pump has finally died. A new one is quite expensive. What are peoples opinions or experience with the facet pumps, such as the one I found on EBay? Cheers, Richard.

Excellent. Am using them on several cars and never had any problems.

@ bwcs1968,
I used them on both our cars, no problems. Cheap, and reliable.
I mount them on a Mini centre exhaust mount (the big square rubber one) Bolts line up, just drill 1 hole 8.5mm in the vertical web and stick a 5/16 UNF Nyloc nut on it.

On the SU pumps? They go well too.

they make ones with out points, or you can buy kit to modify yours.

I think I'll go with the facet pump, I pulled my su apart and cleaned the points, put it all back in and it ran for 10 seconds and stopped again. Brrr.

The SUs can reportedly only handle 2.5 psi (a reliable source told me that with regards to my HIF44).

Do the Facets (4-6 psi) drop pressure by the time they hit the front of the car, do people run regulators, or do the SUs just deal with it?

Also - I'm assuming no one uses a return line with SUs?

[I'm about to buy a Facet pump for the rear, with a fuel regulator in the engine bay to drop it to 2psi just before the carby. But open to recommendations]

Facet pumps come with a range of different delivery pressures. Try to get the right one.

Ah okay - so is there a pressure drop across the length of the fuel line I should worry about or if I need max 2.5 psi at the carby, should I just get a 2.5 psi pump?

I think my square Facet pump is 3-4psi. It works fine with the Dellorto, and with the HS6 SU I had on before.
I don't use a regulator, as cheap ones do more harm than good. Something else to fail.

Thanks for putting up with the thread hijack. FYI for future readers: with this advice added to previous research I ended up ordering the following Holley pump - not running a regulator.

Has anyone has experience with these carter pumps?

I'm wary of facet pumps, heard a lot of bad things about them.
