mine are probably round 50mm long.... i had to take out some of the firewall on the passenger side to make them fit.... 8)
dont worry, I only cut two lines in and bent the section of the firewall back.... completely reversable

I hacked mine big enough for a Ramflow with the GR manifold, but the speedo is in the way. Bugrit, I'll keep the Redline.. and sell the GR one. Gafmo has dibs on it.

Ram tubes just help to straighten out the air going into the carby right? Or do they really allow more air to be pulled through as well?

Both.
A sharp edge effectively reduces intake diameter due to turbulence.
On a Weber or Dellorto, low speed running is improved with a stubstack or trumpet, as the venturi gets a better straighter airflow- helps it to control mixture.

Longer trumpets add to the induction length, this gives more torque. IF you have room in there... I don't!

They just move the torque lower in the rev range. They cannot produce MORE torque on their own. The torque is built into the motor by virtue of its specification isn't it?

Yeah.. I guess what I should have said is they can optimise torque.
Another benefit is they can help stop fuel standoff fog from sitting outside the carb when you are running big cams..

Most race cars with Webers run long inlet manifolds which have a similar effect- ie increase indution length.
