After a good 4 hours port matching and grinding dropped in the minispares manifold and brand new SU, busy tuning it by trial and error.

Get some decent plug and coil leads, you want inductive core ones that will last, not carbonised string...
I normally recommend Bosch, but-
Yesterday I went to Supercrap to get some loose Bosch leads and found the lead hanger rack in a bigger mess than their radiator hose bin (and that's saying something...). I left empty handed...

Today, after 7 months of hard work, and a LOT of swearing in the garage. I said goodbye to my baby for the next week or so the new 1310 can be fired for the first time. Words can't even describe the excitement!

Bought another mini today. Only got it for parts but almost seems to good the wreck. Came with extra doors, 1100 remote engine and gearbox as well as 3 boxes of gearbox parts. Counted it up and there is enough to make 8 gearboxes! Bargain

Started on ROO's suspension before we set out to drive across North America to Ohio & Wisconsin before heading home.

The rear is getting new knuckles, new doughnuts, new adj. height, new S wheel studs and new S drums, plus bearing packs and new seals/cotter pins. Adj. camber (only) brackets will be added later (using shims for toe). When finished...

The front will get new adj. lower arms & bushes, new adj. tie rods and new doughnuts. Then an alignment check & set up.

Bought a new set of inductive core plug leads off GR, after having no joy finding Bosch ones at Supercrap.
At least these will fit nicely with my modified 43D Lucas dizzy. 8)

DRMINI (Kevin),

Have ordered new clutch plunger, arm, spring, throw out bearing, pins, spring retainer...will I find any surprises in renewal when the WOK comes off ROO's Aussie unit??

Part of my "fit for service" prep before the 13,000 km. jaunt east & home...leaving 4 weeks today.

Hi Rick,
You may find the release bearing sits loose on the throwout plunger with a clip to hold it on.
This was an attempt by BL to let the bearing self-align with the thrust plate on the diaphragm, to reduce clutch shudder. Jury is out on whether it helped....
If you have a new plunger I'd fit it, but please try a file on it first. If you can file it, it's crap.
The cheapo ones coming from Minispares etc are rubbish, I measured their `hardness' at 1-3 HRC = very soft rubbish. Original BMC ones were well over 50HRC.
I have saved a few of these new soft ones by press fitting a hardened silver steel bush into them.
