Got these in the mail today,

Protech coil overs. They are very neat looking little units!

Should have at least one day this long weekend to do some work

Cheers

Hot stuff Sean!!

Those Protech units are very good quality and being alloy-bodies, they are light, dissipate heat quickly and you wont have to worry about corrosion!!

Good choice!!

Cheers,
Tricky

Yeah I'd also heard varying opinions on spax coilovers which were my other choice and I wouldn't have gaz after numerous issues with them in a race car we had. Protechs seem to be good quality and great value with a good amount of adjustment, not too much like most shocks, and have great customer support so looking forward to getting them in and seeing how they are! If all else fails they look awesome!

Today I fabricated a clutch slave mount which after coming up with several extravagant options, found a way of doing it in the most simple way while being strong! It's basically a peice of angle bolted to the gearbox casing then welded to some round bar which has been drilled and tapped to suit the rose joint with a small tab welded on which connects to whatever that box is on top of the gearbox (technical) which makes it super rigid! I then just welded some angle onto the original clutch arm and drilled a few holes for adjustment!

Looks too close to the box there but it's not..

I also sat the suspension and brakes in

And re fitted the engine, with the master cylinder reservoirs etc in to check for space

Will get the engineer to come and have a look at my work before I throw it all into the real car!

Can't wait!

Cheers

Sean

That's some nice welding Meeni. It's all coming together nicely by the looks.

Sean why not just use the factory hydraulic slave cylinder?

This one works better with my master cylinder setup and I'm hoping will be a heavy pedal as opposed to the wet sponge you get with some cars. Also couldn't find a new factory slave cylinder. All of the 13b's were cable

Yeh the 1.6 and some 1.8s ran a hydraulic clutch, if you get the right one, it just bolts on, or so ive heard anyway.

Looks effective. On all the G13b powered minis I've seen, non have used the G16b hydraulic cylinder. My race car runs a mini slave cylinder, others have used the cable.

That parts list is unbeleivable. I've never heard of protech, where are they from?

Hope the engineer gives it all the green light!
