Well I put it in today and took it for a run. Goes harder than my well-ported Redline one, no filter on yet. But it'll do for Wakefield Pk track day next week.
Had to cut the firewall hole a little on passenger side. Gotta move the speedo binnacle into car a bit, and then make a shallow box up, then bung a filter or socks on.
Played with the jets this arvo, 45 Dellorto's now got 36mm chokes, 180 airs, & 165 mains in it, and my stubstacks. 8)
Carb angle is 12*, a lot more than stock, but the Dellorto handles it OK. My Redline one is 16*... :shock:

I'll take it out again Saturday, gotta make a bit more room behind and stick some aluminized soundproofing in there. I'll be deaf by the time I get to Wakefield, otherwise... :lol:

Two things Doc.....

Aren't Webers usually flexibly mounted between manifold and carb body :?:

Where is the throttle return spring teethered too :!: looks like it is on a skyhook :!:

oh yeah....carb needs Gafmo bling treatment to go with the flash new manifold :!: :lol:

1. It ain't a Weber. Dellorto 45DHLA is quite happy using the standard gaskets in the repair kit for the last 10 years. Better float & needle setup than Weber, IMO.

2. Return spring is attached to a S/S wire hook tied into the firewall.Easy to unhook spring- I can get this carb & manifold out in 5 mins. (try that with a pair of HS4s..)

3. I like my carbs au naturel... 8)
The filter is Bling!, when I've made room for it.. :D

I dint even look that close....saw the DCOE title and assumed Weber DCOE...

The flexible mounts should be needed on a Deloroto as well :?: Its all about isolating engine vibration which can disrupt the operation of the sidedraft carb (isn't it :?: )

Yeah.....Go will always be more important than Bling in my book :!: :shock:

Folklore says the vibration can make the fuel foam in the bowl, or the carb flood. Yes it does this with Webers. I've never seen it happen with a Dellorto though. Later design... 8)
I found the flexible mounts are more trouble- they can crack with old age, or collapse, or leak fuel.. :x
A gasket is 2 or 3mm thinner- I need the room! :P

I was also going to say it needs some bling (or at least carbie clean) to match the manifold.

ps had my eye on a ribbed alloy rocker cover on ebay speaking of bling - last time I looked it was over $150!!

OK... I'll bow to your wishes and give it a quick Nulon throttle body cleaner `treatment'.
Hey I did spray some degreaser on it!
I just wanted to try it out, and jet it for Wakefield... :P :P

You could dirty up the manifold instead :) - then it wouldn't look out of place 8)

You'll be looking at a set of splits next.

Next comes the serious lightweighting - stop when you start drilling the taillight backing plates.
