G'day,
Does anyone know if a morris engine(1275) fit straight into a mini (round nose)?

Cheers,
Mark

The engine itself fits, I think the engine mounts have to be changed? the differences between the Mini 1275's and the 1100S 1275 in terms of what you want to do are insignificant.

I assume you mean an 1100S engine?

Not a Morris 1300 engine? - they can also be fitted, but I think need more work.

They aren't a straight swap. Different stud patterns, hubs and all the jazz.

Though you will need to fit discs with a 1275 by law.

1275 in line engine blocks (Midget, NZ Marina, etc) can be made to fit a Mini, but the rear main bearing needs to have the `seal' machined off it, and the crank swapped for a transverse one- Morris 1100S/1300, 1275LS, or 1275 Cooper S. That may mean the rods need swapping too. Hardly worth the trouble.

I did a 1098 AH Sprite one into a Mini once- these days it's not worth the bother.
