So where did you find out that the rear-mount rwd was ok? Finding the right engine might prove a problem, but then again I don't think i would do it unless I could go the whole hog to get that motor bike engine noise.

I believe Tricky made a submission to QLD Transport on the subject, and has written approval

don't expect it to be an easy, cheap or painless undertaking though

Nearly right Simon.

David Sirianni made the submission, I just helped write the paper, acted as a consultant and gave QLD Dept Transport the technical answers that they required. :D

Still, we have the approval of the Transport Department to go ahead with the conversion (less the motobike engine - but we are working on that!!) :D

Has anyone tried to mate a car gearbox to a bike engine? I'm sure it wouldn't be easy and there would certainly be some engineering challenges involved, but it would get around the problem of no reverse gear. Plus drive shafts may be easier?

You would miss out on the sequential shift though.

Just thinking aloud...

why frig around doing that and loose the sequential box and 6 speed etc when you can just run a switched starter motor onto a cog on the driveshaft.. reverse!

Nice and simple if you get the kit from z-cars. Just a bit pricey. But im not sure if it would work out any more then getting the G13B rebuilt and putting it in. I reckon it would at least be easier to go the bike engine route using a z-car kit. Might just have to hold off on things and save a few pennies.

Sounds like a good plan. Then you can tell me the cost and everything that is involved :) always easier the second time around.
