Hey Guys, This discussion about Mini alternators with High output has given me an Idea. As I have an auto electrical Business and I have all the alternators I need at My disposition to experiment with I shall develop one (or maybe some) and I will let you people know. I can sell you one. I can do all the tests and Mods necessary on My Mini. So all you will have to do is fit to your Mini and wire up as per My instructions.
I have also modified and fitted to one of My Minis that has a 1485cc racer a Bosch Planetary gear type starter motor. It winds it over nicely and much more quieter than the standard lucas one. Also this starter engages from the "normally unused" side of the ring gear, so if your ring gear is worn don't change it, Replace your starter motor with one of these . It is so much easier and cheaper.
Cantact me if you are interested in any of the above.
Tony.

Ok Chris. I will have alook what I have tomorrow and I will let you know. I can possibly do you one 85 Amps. Which should ample. You don't want to go any higher as Minis only run one belt and you will have too much slippage unless you overtighten the belt and couse other damage.

Tony.

 Use an 1100/1275 balancer, put it in a lathe and groove it for a PolyV belt. :P

Dunno about the N12 ones but later Pulsar Bosch ones DO fit.
So, probably. The Yanks fit all manner of alternators to their Minis.. it would have to be pretty big to NOT fit.

Is it a Bosch, or something else?
 Measure your Lucas one and compare the mountings...
