Alright people frame is complete.

Any comments welcome. Also welded the back spar with the frame bolted in and guess what she fits this time (how surprising, said idiot boy!). And yes the lower control arms are in aswell. :D

PS. Not final colour, colour of primer.

Well done Matt, very well done!.

Hint: now is the time to measure everything and ensure you have all the drawings of what you have built for future reference.

Terrific to see....Cheers, Mick

Hint #43 have you completely de-burred, removed sharp edges from the entire frame?? (now is the time so you don't have to curse yourself when tear flesh later!!

Well 68matic I welded the back brace with the subframe bolted in and surprise when I took her out and then put her back in she fits perfect (I even advise other to do this and didn't follow my own advice  ). As for the foam no this is just to stop the paint being scrapped off on the floor of the garage. As for the mounts Brad, yeah they're coming. Decided that I should get the car on all fours before I dropped the engine in and then start marking up. I have a pretty good idea on what to do with the mounts but this won't happen till new year. Don't worry I will probably send you questions when the time comes  . Yeah the yellow if funky but I aint. I was actually going gloss red what do people think? And finally Mick, cheers mate, and yes got a coarse wire wheel and angle grinder on to every weld so she is pretty schmick now. Some of the welds weren't that pretty but good penetration for sure :)

Yeah MiniK said the same thing, but as he realised the colour won't be the final. Yeah Fluoro Yellow probably ain't the best. I will eventually paint the car Sunburst Orange with two fat black racing stripes from head to toe so the read subframe will probably work in well. Cheers for the encouragement everyone...

Hey Anton, not a bad idea! Also can you clear something up I am still trying to source a spray gun. I was going the HVLP but talked to a guy at an automotive paint shop and he said give the large point ie 2mm for acrylics that this defeated the purpose of having a HVLP gun? Also can you get Hammertone in tins ie for spraying...

pffffffttt....why would they make them then? I asked a zillion people about everything before buying and spraying. No one told me that.

Most panel shops use HVLP gravity guns. Yea, they are mainly spraying 2 pack, but not all the time.

I have used HVLP gravity guns AND standard siphon pot guns. HVLP are better IMHO.

re: hammertone in a can to mix and spray......YES. Kill Rust brand at your local hardware. You WILL need to thin it though. See what it says on the label. Probably TURPS.

I have used a HVLP for spraying both acrylics and 2 packs (and a normal gun for spraying acrylics and 2 packs). I have found that you can get a better finish with a HVLP without being any good at spray painting. Plus you get alot less overspray, which is what they are supposed to do.
Normally when i'm spraying something that i dont really care about the finish too much I just use a normal gun. Mainly as its easier and quicker to clean up afterwards.

Investing in a $15 stand for any gravity feed gun is a must. I tried hanging mine on the garage door opener....it fell off and the pot cracked....PLUS paint went everywhere!!!
