Well Mick I've been trying to bust a comp diff pin in my 1310 now 1360 weekend & weekday warrior for 12 years now, as I said it's still sweet!
And yes I am running Yoko A008s on 10" wheels.. reasonably sticky stuff. 8)
It's had its share of Wakefield Pk laps over the years too.

Well Fred Sayers in Qld makes LSDs from stock ones, guys race them, and they only have 1x comp diff pin in.
Lots out there, racing.... 8)

yeah but,,,the fatigue generally starts from "ONE WHEEL SPINNING" all the time,,,this heats up & wears & fatigues the pin heaps & thus starts the comedy of errors that leads to the breakage of the pin & planetary gears

ok ok, i know there`s been some pins just break, but that`s not that common & usually because they were cheap arse crap brands & often the little roll pin that holds the big pin in will desintergrate causeing the big pin to want to exit the carrier (nastey that one, YUK) plenty more/other causes too

If the whole assy stays put & doesn`t spin the little planetarys at 5million revs (as in freddies diffs etc), then shouldn`t be a pin breakage issue & sticky tyres only help keep the wheels from spinning.

hence the "sharing" of the load across 2 axis-es to me is the best bet for a road/club race situ

altho, i personally use the spiral geared (torque master or quaife type) myself :-) no pins in there to snap :-) cheating hey? :-)

But , as the fella says, it`s for his old man & he`s gonna just putter around, so probly no need to even open the thing up, just shove it back in there :-)

it is for the old man, but he lives near melbourne where the vic mini club do all their events - so I can 'borrow' his car for events at Calder, Sandown etc. etc. without having to drive mine down there :D

Yeah Fred`s diffs are cool,,,he`s been doin em for years & years & i havn`t heard anyone complain yet

I have one fitted to my Bimmer twin cam Turbo gearbox :-)

I rather the Quaife type tho, but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ chunks more than one of Freddys & i use that one for the race car anyways.

I have a Jack Knight "Pall" type diff here for sale,,,"""""""Fully over hauled""""""" & ready to bolt in if anyones interested, again it`s not something i`d recomend for the road tho,... race only , unless you have really big arms :-)

sorry aJust a tad off topic,,,back to the movie now :-)

Nah, they`re pretty cool for the dirt actually, way better than a locker & obviously way better than an open.

$1000 plus postage & it`s anyones

Now that is cheap!!!!!!!! the rebuild alone was $850

first in best dressed
