is there any way to get pedals in a mini more spaced apart? alas i have size 14 feet and stoopid big things get in the way with the mini's tiny little pedals! any suggestions besides lopping a couple of inches off my feet?

Early "square" pedals are slightly better than later "diamond" shaped, as the smaller pad means less chance of operating two pedals at once. I've never seen the pedals re-spaced.

I reckon Issigonis has size four feet.

The accelerator pedal is easily removed & adjusted (bent) in a vice to give a little more clearance from the brakes. Will put it closer to the side, but even 1/2" helps.

I have come up to a set of lights & got my size 11 steelcaps stuck down on the accelerator & under the brake pedal - glad my handbrake worked!

it's mainly just the distance between the clutch and the break... if i could weld and extra arm out the side of the clutch pedal i wonder if there are any legal implications!

I would imagine once you start cutting and welding pedals you could be up for an engineers report , maybe "enhance" the bend outwards on the clutch pedal ? Remove the pedal , put it in a vice and belt the bejeezers out of it to make the bends a little further apart , just make sure the two ends of the pedal arm are still paralel , it might shorten the pedal slightly but if you've got feet that big then I'm assuming you'll have enough force in your leg to push a slightly stiffer/shorter pedal .....

Why weld? Just adjust the bend lines on the clutch pedal to give a bit more clearance. But if that is your problem, I would go with Bnicho's suggestion & source a complete early model pedal box.

You lot must be gumbys or something

When I put a clutch pedal in Ha-ha (was a `matic) I used a Clubby pedal, but ground the diamond shape back to a square to take the early pedal pad and match the brake.
So you could do the same, do brake one as well.
The pedal `box' is the same anyhow.

mybe buy a pedal set for an automatic car and use the long brake pedal on the left hand side of the clutch

Just bend the pedals a little sideways.

It works for my size 13s.
Try to find a pair of narrow shoes, I drive in workboots and have to be carefull of the accelerator when using the brake but when I wear my Dunlop Volley tennis shoe I have no problems.

I'm size 14-15 and even have the Hopkirk accel. pedal extension - and no probs. You do get used to it. Even my bar Blundstones ( the largest size they make but not steel caps) are not a prob.

I reckon the main thing is the seat spacing -- so that you dont have to sit with your feet horizontal like a bus driver. Just get the seat extender brackets if your seat doesnt go back far enough (my cobra cub is a very slender seat and still its pushed all the way against the back seat - makes for some funny photos when I cram 5 people into the car).

could alwayd brake with the side of your foot. stupid as that sounds it works well
