Here's a couple of mine from when Graham worked his magic on it.

It managed about 68 @ wheels at last dyno day from memory.

I see no reason it can't crack 75 when I get new zorst, 1.5 rockers and finally get it tuned properly!! Those figures were with carby stuffed, pea shooter exhaust strangling it and standard rockers.

I wouldn't go anywhere else for any sort of machining work now

im wiating for another dyno day over here so we can stuff mine on the rollers to see what its got.
I had it on a set of rollers and according to the rollers it was producing 4kw less that my race 1430 motor which will pull away form a skyline in a straight line upto 180kph.(video proof).
Gr did my head work and has done a really noce job of lifting the airflow form 111.8cfm to 133cfm on my road head with 35.7mm valves.

i dropped my redline manifold off to GR to get some work done but i am goin on holidays for 2 weeks so no work will be done on the car. i can't wait to get it back together thought i'm hoping for 70hp @ the wheels

My LS, with a mild head, 1293, Weber, mid-length manifold, Vizard-spec 3>1 extracors, Kent 286MD Scatter pattern cam, Balanced and Lightened, made 53kW at the wheels... I think this makes it just over 70Hp. And i can still drive it to work, it doesn't 'lump' as much as a non-scatter cam (less attention from that boys in blue) And it is now staying cool with my front-mount radiator.

I don't think that 70hp at the wheels is unreasonable. Sure is fun, though!

My prototype RE282 cam has a bit lumpy idle when cold, but once warm it sounds quite civilised.. at my 1200 rpm idle, anyhow.
Amazing thing is, even though it has more duration & lift than the RE13, it still `gets on the cam' below 3000 rpm- from then on up it is just more responsive all the way to 7000+....:P
Dyno run Friday this week.:)

just standard valves i was goin to get oversized but i have a large journal crank and to much time over 6500rpm kills them so GR said to stick to the small ones and i would get much better low end torque

Realistically though stuart, as a P plater (who sounds and seems pretty sensible having met you), unless you are going to race it on the track, how much time do you expect to spend "over 6500"?

It's a bit like tuning your car for maximum power at full throttle - how often do you stay there?

Mind you, you do have that oversized muffler on ya car
anyway, if GR said it, then I guess that's how it shall be!

the oversize muffler was when i first got the car. and is soon to be removed for sumthing a little quieter. i live right near the national park so it's get a fair hard work out in there. but your right i don't need it to go passed 6500 and thats why i stuck to the small valves. next on the list is a 1480 but i just need to save sum more money

hee hee,,,my roady 1510cc ran 85hp at 6500rpms on Bob Romanos dyno on a hot 33deg 1.30 pm friday arvo, i won`t mention how much it had at 7500rpms :-) Mind you, Bob`s dyno has got to be the tightest dyno in Brisbane)

same car ran 98hp at the wheels on Greg Sommervilles (G&A motor repairs) dyno in 28deg friday arvo only the day before

same car showed 101 & 106 at 2 other dynos that i won`t declare as they were well stupid figues that were obviously not very realistic

& this same engine can putter around at 1200rpms in top gear with no lumpyness at all,,,i used to take my mum shopping in it, not kidding :-) WOT at 1500rpms & hang on :-)

this same engine after 7years of hard yakka use ran in the 2002 targa tasmania rally without missing a beat & took 2nd in the 0-2litre class, 5th in the category & 49th overall :-)

yeah, it`s a big engine, but very mild cam & low compression with pump fuel all it`s life

different dynos give different results,,, But yes, 70hp at the wheels from anything under 1360cc in "ROAD" form is hard to reach, not impossible, just difficult for the average Joe Blow
