1 1/2" SU would be better I think, 1 3/4" are generally for 1100s and 1275s

my 2 cents

G'day, I've got a HIF-6 on my 998, (With an RE-13 Cam) and its a little "Soggy" down low, under 2500 its almost undrivable....

Above 3000RPM though, its sings sweetly to the 7500RPM (Self imposed) redline....

Personally, I'd like to go with a 1 1/2", but they dont make them in a Turbo Version

Would it be possble to build up the inside of the carb to reduce the size (would only have to be at the start right) :? probably not worth it I guess...

Explored the idea a few years ago... end result was that it wasnt worth it ....

It runs good on the HIF-6, you just have to get used to it... not feed in too much carb before its "ready" ....

you get used to it....

My mind is made up. I will put on the twins su and keep the HS6 for the 1100 that I plan to use in the near future for another project.

Can anyone recommend a good motor rebuilder in SA. I would like to rebuild my 998, put on a ported 12G202 head, a RE-13 cam with an 1100 crank & 1100 pistons and get the flywheel balanced.

What could this rebuild set me back $ wise

Any other ideas or suggestions for the motor rebuild?

you could go see brickworx, they could sell you a rover A+ complete motor for the same sort of money.

my suggestions for a rebuild :
get the gearbox rebuilt at the same time
balance the whole bottom end
heavy duty clutch

all the mini places in adelaide should be able to do a rebuild for you..
i've heard rhemac are the best, but they're in gawler
