got an 1100S block out of a granma's morris 1300 but it is auto and the
auto packed up at an original 70000kms

has any one done the automatic to manual conversion on an 1100S???

I have been told you have to drill out an oil auxilary or something???

Are 1100S blocks better if you want to build a big bore motor??

OK it's all in here- http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... auto+block
I've done a couple now and am currently running one bored to 1360, on a Mk2 S box. No problems.

Read it thru, if you have questions, ask. 8)

Yes the 1100S, 1300 auto and 1275LS blocks are best for big bores.

The S gearbox he is talking about is the gearbox off a Mk2 Cooper S.

but AFAIK you should be able to put almost any mini gearbox on the bottom of it.
remote change boxes tend to help limit engine movement though, now that you have a 1275 8)

Added: the S gearbox probably got different ratios and there may have been some difference in the gearbox internals but it is not really nessicary to get an S gearbox IMO. Look for one from a mini K, 1100 remote change, deluxe etc (depends if you want a 4 synchro gearbox or not but 4 synchros is preferable) rod change gearboxes shold be fine too.

It's a MK2 S box. Same gearbox as a Mini-K box except 1-2-3 ratios are slightly higher and output shafts/UJs are different.

Casing number is 22G1128.

All the 4 synchro boxes (including rodchange ones) are `tuffer' than the old 3 synchro ones including Cooper S Mk1.
