engine rebuilds and modifications are a pleasure for me.
Sounds like you have a bit of condensation or moisture in the head (common during winter here).
I use penrite oil and buy it from supercheap (cos they are the only supplier in NZ).
Simple modifications to a 998 will get it to run as well as a 1275 without the huge cost but i must admit it is easier to go straight to a 1275motor and drop it in your existing body.
cheers jai
Minibitz extractors are form the uk and are really good but a bit too big for a 998, there are local ones you can buy a bit cheaper, and $200 is really cheap for an exhaust system, make sure its the right type.
Cool...someone in the region who knows about mini's
Is the headgasket easy to replace?? would something like this be of use to me??
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 169424.htmIt's probably close enough for me to go and pick up.

What is that likly to set me back?? I must admit it seems to be going pretty well, quite nippy but Im not used to the nippy bit being early in the rev range then nothing when the revs are up....having a turbo it's the other way around
Cheers
