Well here are some piccies. I couldn't make it to Gafmo's birthday yesterday as I promised to do some babysitting for my sister in law. I got home about 5pm yesterday and got stuck into it. Here are the results:
Slightly used valves
White valve closeup:
GR's 12G295 modded head versus a stocko 12G202 (sorry about the optical illusion, i shot it at an angle and GR's one looks smaller than the 12G202

) No prizes for guessing which is which:
So the story goes, my 12G202 head which is obviously stock as a rock, has double valve springs! Vizard says there were what he calls "Twin carb 1100's" which came with twin springs, 80lb on the outside, 30lbs on the inside.
This then leaves me to believe that it possibly may not be my fault that cylinders 3 and 4 have white exhaust valves and it could be from the engine's previous life running with badly configured twin SU's or something. Either that or it was me with my dellorto antics
If this engine is not at all stock, then it could be that it's running a different cam and hence the old owner threw in double springs to cope? is that why Lillee is so lumpy at idle? I've always wondered if it was because the engine was old or if there is a cam in it... Most likely the former
This makes me more determined to get it dyno'd properly with Greig Malure this time so that I won't have this problem.
