Hi all,
Recently I have seen some pictures of minis with the undercarriage painted the same colour as the car.
What are your thoughts on this?
Should or shouldn’t I do this using this product from auto barn
Car Builders TXT 2K Tintable Texture Coating Kit 1L - 2KTINTKIT1L
I’m planning on painting the mini Gambier Turquoise

And while I’m at it, any recommendations for the subframes?

This video uses a similar tinted under body paint. I want to do this to my mini when I've got some time and some space to make a mess getting the old coating off

For subframes, suspension arms etc I’m using this stuff. It’s amazingly tough and similar to POR15 in that it’s a moisture cure coating.

I’ve tried rattle can epoxy paints but they all seem to scratch very easily.

The kBS system is very good - an excellent hard wearing finish on the clubman chassis after sandblasting. I used the KBS satin topcoat over the normal gloss finish.

I also used KBS for my Range Rover chassis and suspension.

I went through the entire three step process, Rust Blast, Aquacleen and Rust Seal.
I used gloss.

Phil

That product will work fine and give a nice texture, along with a little bit of soundproofing.

Obviously you need to buy the schutz gun, and take safety precautions using the product.

They also do a 1k product, which is good as well, as you can use half a tin and put the left overs away for later, whereas the 2k, you need to use it all once catalysed.

I am thinking of doing one of my cars using a 1k product called Voodoo Liner.
