Hey guys,
On RE-13 cams,
Play around with the rocker clearances a little. I was running .020" (recommended for my 1.5 rockers) and found it goes harder when set to .018". :P
If you are running std rockers with this cam, I'd try reducing it from .018" to .016".
Don't go much less though..... it could get all cammy and piggy at low speed.
And you might burn valves...

<edited> for clarity.

Do you have to adjust your rockers often? I have a 1100s engine with a mild cam of unknow origin what gap range should I use?

What would hp do you think your engine is putting out these days Kevin?

I'd use .015" if you don't know what cam it is.

GR reckons ~120 (at crank) probably.

Thats impressive stuff. A lot of people aim for that with superchargers on 1275's. What is the power range like with the RE-13 cam I know people have mentioned it before but does it produce a peaky engine? How is your clutch and gearbox standing up to the power?

Power hits at 2700 with 1.5 rockers on it, it spins freely to 8000, but I don't run that high any more- I've seen too many motors bust things over 8K. So I limit this one to 7500.
It's not cammy but does get a second wind from 5500-6000 up, with these rockers.
GR says standard rockers are better on a road car- give more torque up to 6000.
I can potter around at 2000 or less and it doesn't snatch, it's way more tractable than the Camtech VP3 I used to run. Considering it's got a 45DHLA carb and 36mm chokes I think it's pretty good.
Gearbox- nothing busted yet! But I overhaul it whenever motor's off. Last motor lasted 45,000 hard miles until I seized a (forged) Mahle piston at Wakefield Pk...
Clutch is an orange dot, standard B&B drive plate, with lightened flywheel & backplate- no problems yet.

Here's an interesting article:

http://www.minimania.com/ArticleV.cfm?D ... r&CarType=

They set the exhaust and inlet clearances differently...

Sounds very impressive I can see why so many people out there have drmini spec motors. So how is it on fuel do you have any idea of what mileage it would return?

No idea really. I don't do many miles, so "dus'n matter" as Cont the Fruiterer would say.
It's OK in traffic, doesn't foul plugs or anything.

Yeah that was specific to Metro cams though, as they idled like crap.
No harm in playing about a bit with ODD clearances- but if you do, exhausts want to be looser than the inlets (when set cold) as they get hotter and expand more.
