Hey everyone. I'm elbow deep in a wiring loom. The dip switch for the headlights - in 1967/8 my understanding is that the floor mounted dip switch selects between low beam OR high beam.

Or am I mistaken, does the dip switch turn on high beam AND keep the low beam on?

Thanks!

(Just double checking wire amperage requirements)

The dipper switch only swaps from Low Beam circuit to High Beam circuit (and High Beam Dash Light)

Okay great, so it is either/or, not both.

Thanks!

Correct - Only one at a time. Here is a diagram.

U (Blue) is power from switch
UR (Blue/Red) is Low Beam
UW (Blue/White) is High Beam

Thanks mate. I'm powering low beam and high beam relays from the same power cable, which will be fine given only one will be on at a time.

Good question.

I'm doing a short run of a power cable to the relay block which is shared. Then separate everything from then on, including separate relays with built in fuses. So if low beam circuit blows a fuse, the high beam circuit it still active. If there is an issue further up the line, something bad has happened and I have bigger fish to fry :) .

(If I add another power cable to the relay block I have to go to larger Deutsch connector, which I'd like to avoid).
