I have sorted quite a few issues with the motor and finally have a reasonable idle and passable acceleration. Im taking it easy until it beds in more but when I take a corner at any speed it seems to die off. It isn't a "miss" as such, i just have to take my foot off a bit then it recovers. Any ideas?

Is it surging or emptying Fuel somewhere?

If I'm carrying on like a pork-chop, I'm having a great time.

If I go very quiet there's a very good chance I broke something.

I would probably start by checking your float level/s.

Yeah had issues with the lid when I tried using one off a 1 1/4. It has a non bendable float in it and the gap is a little big. I'll have a go on the weekend.

Hi Bluehishouse
One issue minis suffer from when driven with a bit of spirited driving round corners mostly right hand corners the float shuts off the fuel.
To over come this you have to turn the float lid around so that when you are under brakes the float will go forward shutting off the fuel.
This means it will be open under acceleration and round corners, BUT the inlet pipe will be facing the body of the carbie bit hard to get the fuel pipe on some times.

Ah i see. I have miles of hose. Is there any issue putting an angle barb in a fuel line? Other than extra points to leak.

In theory an HIF carb with a concentric float bowl should be better than an HS, but I don't run one.
My 45 Dellorto doesn't do it.

I haven't driven yet but the lid would surge one way as it was sitting. I turned it one screw to face as GR said. Makes sense. Blue slip done rego this week then ill give it a real belt!

I reckon it will be the float bowl orientation

My HIF doesn't suffer from that, but I also have a float bowl spacer to give more volume. Forgive my ignorance, I am not sure whether there would be a way to enlarge the float volume in the HS, given its engineering.

One way that has been used over the years on racing cars is to run two float bowls. (not usually seen on Minis though)

Would hardly need 2 on a mini. The issue i struggled with is its relative height to the jet it comes out of. Does having it low affect the flow? Or does it just make it run dry

I have seen float bowl extensions on race cars.
