If you take a stock flywheel to Graham his big lathe is set up for flywheel lightening, he could do it while you wait.

Don't have a stock fw and gr is 6hrs drive from me. In the Maloo that is probably $150 in fuel! Still paying $1.35 ltr up here on the north coast

TOZOOM has offered me one for $180.
Just got to get hold of him again to finalise the transaction

Clutch fibre plate is strange. Doesn't have any grooves. Says fraymon. Looks like lighter type pressure plate so that is good. Stripped 3/8 thread photo also attachedImageImage

That looks like a Quinton Hazell backplate. I had one, it was miles out of balance when checked.
I would get it balanced with the flywheel if you are going to use it.

Will have to see how it goes first I think. Budget will be blown with new flywheel. If the fw transaction doesnt eventuate, another option would be to send it all to GR and get it all balanced and the stripped thread fixed at the same time

Hi mini66
The best thing you can do is get rid of that flywheel the reason being they have turned the centre boss down BAD MOVE
The boss has no strength when this is done, and with use it will move up the crankshaft and you will not get it off and possibly taking out the crank and flywheel, been there don that.
I tried to alert MED about this problem with his flywheels after a lot of cranks were ruined in Aust but he did not listen said there was not a problem.
Funny 12 months later his flywheels came out with a much larger boss, now he cuts little slots all around the boss and no heat sink and you wind up with 3 big hot spots around the flywheel

Hi Graham, thanks mate, great help. It was already bloody hard to get off. Needed a long bar on the puller. I will get a new fw and use the pressure plate I have and see how it turns out. Pressure plate still has the machining marks on it. (although could be a dodgy brand typically out of balance).
Have you seen a fibre plate without grooves like that before?

Cheers
Rick

HI Rick
Yes, I cut groves in the backing plate and flywheel.

Ok makes sense.
It still has the writing on the face so I will reuse it and see how it goes.

In your opinion is 37 grams a lot to be out of balance for the flywheel?. This is what the missing bolt and spacer weighed
Thanks again
Rick
