mate the best way to do it is drill through the spot welds remove old panel with chisel and line up the panel with clamps before welding.
spot weld in the drilled holes as the new panel will not have holes and it will be close to factory finish.
remember to use dripcheck to seal the seams.
and use new clips (thats where the rust usually starts from) under the seam covers.
when you put the seam covers back on make sure you seal them with drip check also.

it is what it is called you can get it from any automotve paint supplier its used for sealing panel joints like door skins to frames and it does not shrink dries hard and can be painted over.
