I am a bit lost???

Is this the correct under bonnet insulation for a Mk 1 Cooper S?

If it is correct, I don't understand how it fits properly. There are no cut outs for the bonnet hinges, so I can't see how it goes in?

If you turn it up the other way, the rectangular cutout is for the master cylinders and the triangular cutout for the wiper motor.

Yes, but shouldn't there be cut outs for the bonnet hinges?

I suggest it is from a Clubman, which has the hinges on the outer edges.
It should also have a spot for the washer bottle for a Mk1.

Shouldn't this be called firewall insulation, not under bonnet insulation?

Also a flap cut into it so you can read the id tag
Plus it's a fine grain vinyl

A quick search will bring up several discussions on insulation, including firewall insulation.

Yes, Flute, that's the more appropriate term. Under bonnet insulation generally means the fibreglass stuff stuck under the bonnet.

Just confirming once again that your photo is of the Clubman style insulation. I guess that's another item you'll need to source to maintain originality. :(

Yes it’s a Clubman insulation pad and it’s firewall, not under bonnet.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

I will probably just modify it to fit for now unless an original is worth anything to sell?

I'd be interested if you wish to sell your Fire wall mat
