My son has a 76 Clubman where Im after some suggestions on a good needle size for his carby. Its a 998 with LCB extractors and the HS4 has a ramflo air filter setup. I tried the AC needle but as you would guess it was lean. I wound out the mixture nut about a turn and a half and the engine ran awesome except it ran way too rich at idle.

So can anyone give me some feedback on a needle suggestion to run with this setup.

Cheers Rob

For a fixed needle try CP4. or no 6.

Looks like CP4 is the one. The car ran so much better and it idled really well.

Thanks for your help.

CP4 was the needle used in Police Cooper S with the twin HS4s and Ramflo filters.
I have used it in a few 998s and 1098s with a single HS4 and Ramflo.

Just about to fit twin HS4's to my new engine job. No idea what needles are in the carbs!
Thanks Doc for the heads up.

Try no 6 if CP4 too lean.

Looks like #6 is slightly leaner than CP4, I thought was richer. My bad, it's been a while since we sold Barney..

Check them on http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/suneedle/ it shows the differences well,
