Hi,

Only have an Ignition barrel for a morris mini, but no Key

can a locksmith make a key from the ignition barrel,

there is no key for door or boot as it is the same key, so can a key be made from the ignition barrel

If you are cetain the door and boot ket is the same as the ignition.

You can pull the lock mechanism from the door and their is usually a number stamped on the side of it telling you what number FS ket it is.
Sometimes the number is stamped on the face of the ignition barrel also.

Matt read has a keyboard with many keys available, and I think Ivan at mini spares and repairs has all the profiles on file.

Otherwise you can type it into ebay UK and there will probably be some listed

No, not sure if all locks are the same,
I have been told ignition key does all locks unless it has been broken off from weather or damage.

I will have to have look at the ignition barrel as stated,

Hopefully a local locksmith can make the key from the numbers as you said or do you mean send it to one of the local mini specialists,

Are there numbers always on the morris mini version ignition barrels?

A local locksmith may be able to help with a code (I dont think they will though)

A mini specialist would more likely be able to help you with just a code.

A locksmith should be able to cut you a key to fit a door barrel if you drop it down to him (I think last price I head from someone locally it was about $45 or more, that was a good while ago though)

I recently got my keys sorted out . In my case I removed the door handle and took it in they picked the lock in order to remove the barrel from the handle .... Put it this way you need the key to get it out or pick it. Once the centre barrel was out they cut keys opening boot , door and ignition.

if your ignition barrel is worn like most mayb a key from it won't open ur door / boot very well. I got lucky with the door barrel it cost me about 50 bucks I was surprised because the guys doing had to be bout 20 yrs old charged me next to nothing.

Go in with the the barrel show them & get a quote if it's cheap to get a key cut you may get lucky open boot /door. If they muck u around go somewhere else.

Good luck

A good locksmith can do it from the ign barrel no problem A bad one like my local one might stuff it up like my boot lock was. I ended up buying a new one.:(
I now have 5 keys- ign, door, boot, fuel filler caps, and and 'stay-put' krooklock.

On eBay has them in UK as Brenton said look on ignition barrel usually has for example prefix like this: FS 933. He has them for about $8 a key included postage in cost. But check with him before purchasing that he has your key in stock.

Thanks

What year is the car!!!!
Oooops, just read your username, sorry. Go to your local Mini place, prove the car is yours and ask for their collection of keys to try. One of them will fit for sure. My '62 Vespa key works on my '67 DeLuxe so the keys are not complicated (secure?)!

I have had good experiences with Bensons Locksmiths at Alexandria. They've done obscure automotive keys for me in the past.

I have a bootlock with no key, so found code and rang Mini Kingdom. They said they could cut a key to the code.

Maybe give them a try?

Does that door barrel fit the Oz windup doors? John Smidt told me no, but said a boot lock one can be modded to fit.

If one go's to the "HOW IT Site) on here, it shows how to fiddle with a Clubman barrel. They are all much the same.

All one needs is ANY matching key to the Barrel. And it is all done with a little time. If you can't find a key, yell out, I'm sure I would have one. :)

If you are not up to it, put all the barrels in a post pack, send them to me and I will do them for you. One key fits all :) :)

No Charge :) :)
