After many hours of work on my project which I started back in 2008, my book covering the production of classic Mini in Australia between 1961 and 1982 is almost complete. My daughter will soon undertake the task of preparing the document for printing which I am hopeful to be completed by mid year. My son is currently completing the design for the front and back covers.

The book is divided into seven chapters plus a bibliography and at present, the document is at 278 pages which may change as the preparation for printing is carried out. The chapters are:

Introduction
1. Austin, Morris & Leyland Company Background
2. Mini Pre Production & Production Overview
3. Saloon
4. Performance Saloon
5. Van
6. Moke
7. Appendices
8. Bibliography

The book is intended to answer all those questions regarding manufacting periods build numbers, identification coding along with a chronological list of production changes for all models. Each chapter contains graphical charts detailing the sequence of the various models produced together with relevant build number identification details. These individual charts will be combined into one large chart, possibly AO size, covering all models produced.

A big thankyou must go to those Ausmini members who have assisted along the way, I could not have completed the task wihout your help.

I look forward to the day the project comes to fruition and trust the information will be relevant to all in the Mini fraternity.

John, I assume this is a self-published effort and that people will be able to order direct from you?

Good luck with the venture 8)

All a matter of preference, of curse, but I refuse to include words like classic when talking about the original Mini's as opposed to the modern BINI cars

I saw some of the early layouts for this and it looked excellent. Well done John, looking forward to it.

This is an amazing voluntary effort by John that has taken him many years to research, collate and edit. He hasn't done it for financial reward or personal notoriety but as a somewhat selfless task on behalf of the Mini and Moke enthusiast community in Australia. He saw a gap in the knowledge base and decided he would be the one to fill it.

I for one am eagerly looking forward to adding this publication to my library.

Hi,
Well done for your many efforts to put all of this together! Please count me in for a book. I can also help to "Advertise" up here in North America so that those interested can get directly to you for purchase. I'd be glad to do it, and know many Oz Mini owners.
Thanks and regards,
MSH
