If it's a Cooper S block it will have 1 welch plug above the flywheel housing [not 2 like an 1100S etc], also it will have 2 side covers, not cast solid like all other 1275s.

The little `a' stamped in the engine number tells me it's 99% an S block with original stamping. Most re-stamped blocks would get an `A' stamped there.

well its kinda of a miss match I guys you could say.
I was looking for a clubman shell to cut up and make a trailer (Still looking in VIC for one) when I put an add out I got a reply and the guy sent me a photo and ounder some other parts ect I spotted a clubman next to it I asked about that due to it having a sunroof and then he sent some photo. curious as to why it had twin carbs I inquired as any normal person would. then I got a big story about how the engine use to be in a race car and after the car was crashed or something happened to it the engine was put in the clubman with twins rather then the Webber it had on it. now I am looking at buy in but am unsure on price ect. any info would be amazing help thanks guys

It is a very early one, out of the first couple of hundred Australian built cars in 1965.

is that good or bad thing to be an early engine?
I know most people say to buy generation 2 when it comes to most modern cars because then there are less issues to deal with ?
would it be the same here or is it worth more due to being close to the first ones made

Nothing wrong with the thin flange MK I S engine. I've had my one for 18 years now and haven't had any problems. The last 8 years of that it has been supercharged.
