Not sure how regulated noise levels are in NSW but here in Queensland I have not been hassled for noise. I have a 998 with twin hs2s extractor with 1 3/4 inch exhaust and only a single hot dog at the rear, no other muffler. It is plenty loud enough with a good bark, but is quieter than most Harleys.

Mark.

My car also only has a rear hotdog. I got sick of scraping the muffler off on the shitty roads and crazy steep driveway ramps in Bali. It's noisy but not radically noisy. Certainly not as loud as a Harley but the stereo is not much use. People say it sounds good. Guess I'll find out when it returns to Oz and the Coppers hear it...

I enquired about the lukey L132 at my local exhaust shop he rang lukey and they for make the muffler anymore he said, so only place can get is from that website, he also said red back make a "exact equivalent" muffler. to supply the redback muffler was about $60-70ish... I'm going to call them again tomorrow and yet get it fitted Tuesday...

I'll be very interested in how the red back muffler sounds on the A series engine. I have Red back's on my Ford Cleveland V8 and am very happy with them.

So I went to the exhaust shop today and got my new muffler fitted. Now it's my Maniflow extractors > Maniflow Reverse megaphone > hotdog muffler, she sounds really tough now. Took a quick little video of the note!

download the Db app and see if its about 100 Db's, that should give you a bench mark just incase the wollapers want to try and big note themselves, keep the App handy and show the inconsiderate gentlemen if they happen to pull you over and then hope they have a little common sense. which I doubt all the good ones have retired. :-|

This is what I got - It's literally a hotdog as the rear muffler, I'm not sure of the brand sorry

I will get that app cheers! I wouldn't think it'd be 100db, it's not deafening - but can't be too safe!

I thought my car was up near the 100db so I looked up the specs for testing and downloaded the phone app - my car only came out at around 90db when tested. Apparently you are allowed 96db for pre 83 cars and 90db post. Not sure if this is the most current but it says that pre 1983 4 cylinder cars are tested at 4000rpm. The readings have to be taken 500mm from the exhaust pipe and at a 45 degree angle, around the same height of the outlet but not less that 200mm off the ground.
