Well YESTERDAY I ground off some welds, spent four hours hammering the front end back into alignment and all the while my dad was making about 6 patches for the boot floor and window sill, then we welded the front wing on.

Pulled the drivers door handle/lock to bits(roundy) spent 30 mins trying to figure out how it worked. Once I realized the pin had snapped in the locking mech it took 5 mins too fix and 5 mins to put back together.

fitted up lh and rh lower engine steadies

Re fitted oil cooler properly.

Hey speedwell why do your rear wheels appear to sit so far back in the arch. Is it just the way the flares are sitting?

The rear flare is meant to sit up on top of the rear bumper seam line. Which it is in the photo. And it doesn't look right to me either so I'll adjust and fiddle with it and see if I can get it any better.
It is currently held on with masking tape. Hahah

One of the jobs I managed to do was to drive the sodding rodchange gearbox pin in. I don't know why that was so difficult initially. Getting the car into reverse and aligning the holes with a piece of scrap brake pipe managed to do the trick! I did some other things but that was the one job that earned me a beer I think.

I've pulled the RH swivel hub and driveshaft out, as the old CV and S driveshaft are worn in the splines like the LH one was recently.
This RH side got new Timken bearings 3 months ago, it's going back in tomorrow with a new CV and a Deluxe driveshaft.
So I'll then have Deluxe driveshafts both sides instead of S ones. :o

Got the engine bay looking all nice again and took her out for a spin! Running quite rich but will be fine until I get a mechanic to tune her properly

Bit dirty but will clean up nicely for minis in the gong first run of the year this Sunday!

Talk about coolant reminded me it was time to change out the mini's. So I gave her a flush through, and changed it out.
All this new coolant was an excuse for a blast through the mountains as well while the weather is till great.

Oil and filter change for the mini van.
Put thick oil in the SU dash pot and fixed the hesitation when accelerating. It's amazing what a difference you can make by changing the viscosity of the oil in the dash pot ........

Put a new speedo cable in yesterday, after the threaded end broke off the 200KMH speedo and we couldn't remove it from the cable nut.
I had to pull the radiator out, no way could I get my hand down in there to undo the bottom nut [edit] with the LCB fitted.

Used my Nautilus air horns when some retard pulls out from a service station and starts to swing out into the middle lane, causing me to give him a real blast. Must have scared the crap out of him cause he pulls up next to me at the lights and abuses me even though he was in the wrong (typical Sydney driver). I gave it back to him and quite enjoyed it!
Sunday bloody drivers.......love the Nautilus!
