I've been looking into using charade or cuore parts to get ac into my vtec mini because of the space shortage......but am yet to find a car with all of the parts to obtain.....i want them all from one car.

Just measured my tool box, 20cm. So the evaporator box from the charade is 20-25cm square.

Do the rover mini systems use the fan from the normal heater to draw air through the evaporator or do they have a second fan to force air through the evaporator?

How small is the space under the dash?

I'm not sure all the parts need to be from the one car, anyone who knows better please share.

Rover AC is completely independent of the heater. They don't share any fans or ducting.

Thanks for the information Harley. I assumed the systems were joined.

I've been researching condensors for air conditioning to fit under the bonnet and options are very limited. The options I can think of are,

Get the rover condensor, fan, piping, and compressor set up. Does anyone know who sells these parts?

Aftermarket/non rover condensor, fan, piping, and compressor set up.

Put the condensor under the boot floor and use whatever bits you like.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

The more I look and think the more I think putting the condensor under the boot floor is the best option. I will just need a good heat shield for the exhaust and a sturdy mesh guard to stop rocks hitting the condensor.

The Yanks usually put the condenser inside the rear subframe with a fan above it when doing a conversion. Coz when you have a VTEC up front there's no room left! Works for them, just stay off gravel roads...

That's where I got the idea. My car is unlikely to be driven on gravel when finished and if it is it will be slow, and a mesh cover should stop rocks anyway, or at least slow them down.

Just put the condensor in the front. There's plenty of room in an A series mini - particularly a clubby.

Harley, unfortunately this isn't going in a clubman.

Have you got any suggestions for condensors and where is best in the engine bay to put it. I also considered under the drivers side mudguard, but until I get near a mini with a tape measure in a couple of weeks all I can do is read and ask questions.

Take a look at this pdf from Highateair. It lists all the easily available universal condensers as well as OEM types with sizes.
http://www.highgateair.com.au/images/st ... sors-1.pdf

If you can't find something in here I will be surprised!

Thanks m1100 I'll see what they have.

Thanks Harley I looked at their website a couple of years ago but couldn't remember them, I've bookmarked it in my phone now.

Nick, I looked at the vtec kit but it is big and is designed for a late uk rover dash, and
I can find something similar locally for less money from the link Harley shared above.

I'll hopefully be able to run a tape measure over a mini this weekend.
