Sanded back and repaired a dent that's been staring at me on the 997 since I bought it.
Sanded back the rest of the panel and prepped it for basecoat in the morning.

Also spot welded a brace at the rear of the bonnet which had come loose and was allowing the bonnet to wobble when propped up. Love the portable spot welder!

Since it worked out so well, I think I'll tackle a few more jobs on the Cooper over the next few weeks.

4 new A032R's + rims arrived at my door from the good folk at Midland Wheel and Tyre in the UK. Great price (hundreds cheaper than buying locally), plus arrive less than a week after ordering! Happy faces everywhere!

Just had a look at there site, pretty good selection. Could I ask what the shipping was for 4 wheels and tyres? Cheers.

Got the first front corner rebuilt to go with the finished rear...

New rubber doughnut/spring, new knuckle & cup (on new adjustable trumpet in NSW), new adjustable lower arm & new adjustable tie-rod...and, new Wiggly Pin after the one taken out showed a crack...and all new fasteners.

Next, the rad comes out and the left front side gets done. Then off for laser alignment...after the rubber takes its set.

213 pound expedited or 240 pound express according to their website (well for 10's)

Cost me GBP550.08 all up delivered to my door (wheels, tyres plus bonus set of wheel nuts) which was just a shade under $1,000.00. To buy the same from Australia, is about $400 more expensive (and I suspect the freight will actually be more than the $14.95 quoted on their website).

Hey Mick, whats the go with spot welder?
Did you make one or buy one?
I was thinking along the lines of a single phase 180 - 200 amp MIG with gas.

I tracked down an annoying rattle from the radiator at idle.
The tiny copper rivets holding the frame to the core at the bottom have broken and gone.
Time for some M3 nuts, screws and Loctite like I used on all the top frame joints. :P

drmini in aust,

I agree bolts/nuts & Locktite replace rivets.

Have done so myself, Stainless 7mm bits.

So new to the mini world (although have always loved them ever since the Italian job) I picked up my first mini today. (78 Leyland in squadron blue). Has all the usual quirks, distributor getting wet in today's rain I stopped 3 times on the way to Mini Classic in Ermingtion, Great bloke. Blue slip obtained with no issues (although I will replace the leads and do a bit of cleaning and the like, as well as getting the 3-5 spots of rust fixed but that is a problem for future me. Now to RMS (formerly RTA) to get rego and plates.

Wish me luck,

Nick.

Good luck Nick, you are in for a fun time!! ! welcome aboard, great to hear another mini on the road again.
Sounds like you are in Sydney, and only 3 stops on the way to Greig!
Come along to a Sydney Minis meet up, this month we are meeting Wednesday June 11th at 7.30pm at Paddys Brewery flemington for a pub feed and chat and then a cruise, maybe to Killa Burger Burwood :D
