Cant be a 7AFE....They were 1.8L and DOHC(from memory).

That appears 2.0L(the 2000). My guess would be a 5SFE. Camry engine. Can't remember if they were 2.0l or 2.2l though :wink:

It looks the same engine as a camry (mine is a 2ltr 16 valve) but ther is stuff in different places in that picture the fuse box for example in mine is near the fire wall on the passengers side. There are also some other bits I don't recognise.

camry in oz used to be what corona was in asia......

i thought late mazda cosmo had a FWD gearbox innem. may be auto only though.....

ok i showed a picture of this gearbox to my brother and he said it looks like either a barina or astra gearbox, and they are ok not too many problems with them.

at the pub on Friday night, I got talking to a friend of a person who works on the same site as me... this guy is an accountant at Holden's engine plant, his boss is a petrol head, and has access to a warehouse full of gearboxes.... he was quite curious about the idea..... :twisted: :wink:
