Hi, just wondering if anyone knows who can supply the end spline part for Mini steering columns? Apparently a guy in Queensland makes them but having trouble getting any info. They are available from Minisport but are quite expensive!

Any help / suggestions who to try greatly appreciated.........

Mini King has some original factory forgings, but they are unmachined.
I got prices recently for machining them, but the cost was prohibitive.
I then got a price to CNC machine some from bar stock and wire cut the splines in, the minimum qty worth making was a problem, & it was expensive too.
The main problem to do them cheaply is finding someone with a 9/16 x 36 tooth SAE spline pull-thru broaching tool, or putting up the $$$$ to get one made. Nobody knows what happened to the original tooling back in 1978 or whenever.

The next problem is welding them onto the shaft- these days they would probably need to be TIG welded by a certified welder.

i was going to get my Guy to make them (a while ago) but there wasn`t really very much support or encouragment,,, i could have probably made them avaliable for about $60 each but like i said, there just wasn`t anyone interested & a whole heap of people kept telling me that minisport already have them,,, so i didn`t really want to step on anyones toes,,, so i didn`t bother making them,,, i`m making other stuff instead :-)
