Howdy, Happy New year and all that... and sorry - been away with family and not touched the PC really.
Now, the T2 choked at 6500rpm - mine will happily rev to 8k all day so wanted something to suit.
The T2 boost came on WAY too agressively - I had no first (still dont) and then would just light up the wheels in every gear... it was fun and scary but not quite what I wanted.
I went the modified 2560 - its a GT2560 core but skyline GTR rear housing and a .51 front housing.
Its nice and smooth and winds up great.
Grant and Ben, ill SMS you for the injection mod, havnt even started it - but started building a new driveway, garage, front balcony, ensuite, and a few more things around the house :-S
Dont forget mine is running around 9:1 or 9.5:1 compression, so it drives very 'normal' off boost and then goes a bit mental when on boost.
When I get the injection on, ill run a few data maps but I am VERY happy with the 2560 setup on mine, and on yours (Grant) it would be even better due to the big bore flow, etc.
Mini13 - I would love to go a vv turbo like that and get it to spool up earlier but still nice and linear - but now its out of the budget.
Scott - Yep, turbo or S/C you can still run your air-con bud - but I just think it adds weight and loses a bit of power

but I do like the comfort of air lol
For your question about what turbo to use... all depends mate, if you want low down or up top... the T2 was FANTASTIC - people knock the old turbo but really, it came on boost early, held boost, was a simple and small and neat and ran fine. The only issue, over 6k it choked - if you are ok with that - grab a cheap high flowed T2 and bolt that on. It will set you back like $200 max for a good one compared to $1k - $2k for the new stuff.
Honestly, Grant I would be looking at a smaller rear housing, externally gated - same as my setup but weld the gate and put external... if I muck about with the turbo thats what ill do next.
