Fitting rear disks are for me, I'm fixed on the idea so looking for some assistance. Do my fellow members have any leads or contacts in the motorbike wrecking industry?

minisport in SA were selling an alloy caliper rear disc kit for Mini's.....

very expensive, but if you have the cash, then why not!

If you check the 16 valve mini forums, one of the guys there has used swift GTI rear discs - had to modify the rear spindles, and fitted the swift bearings, and I don't think it would fit under 10's...

Looking at fitting 2 calipers per disk, one for the pedal circuit and one for the hand brake. Need to find opposing piston calipers as they and made in 2 halves and so can have a "spacer" fitted to suit the thickness of the rotor used. Finally need to machine the mounting points of the mini rear hub to allow the new rotor to be clamped to the rear of the hub stud face. Running a hydro hand brake seems to be legal if on its own circuit.

I don't think so! I can't think of any production car with a hydraulic handbrake.

The handbrake must be a fail safe system. Hydraulics are not classed as fail safe. Look at any type of machine with hydraulics and you will see some sort of safety catch.
You do not get under a car supported by a hydraulic jack do you? Not unless it has stands as well. It is the same sort of thing.

Preciate the words, was hoping to give a clear picture of where I'm heading with the brakes so I didnt get people leading the thread on their own merry way.

Many American cars use a foot pedal (hydraulic) park brake. These were not legal here for years, but I'm sure the rules are different now as I've seen cars here with it fitted. You need to ask RTA etc.

Try Subaru front calipers too. Something like 80s model Leone, Brumby etc. Some of those had park brakes that operate on the FRONT wheels so the calipers are both hydraulic and cable actuated.

I think some models of Magna have similar calipers but operate on the rear, not the front.

Time to do some scratching through your local wreckers

Try Fiat 124 or 125 single piston rear calipers. Had a cam operated integral handbrake that pulled the pads into the disc. Similar to EA Falcon, but smaller.
They are Bendix design- some other euro cars used them too I think.
