These photos had to be shown at some time but it still makes me want to cry when I see them both looking like that - seemingly so sad and uncared for, which is the reason I didn't post any myself.

I really did care - however, I did "keep the faith" because Chris said he would restore them both even though I knew he wouldn't.

Under Greg's care and attention they will both live again and that is the most important thing right now.

Paddy has now moved into his new accomodation. The new workshop/shed is almost finished. I have a few finishing touches and then work can commence. Will post pics of his new home on the weekend. Paul Merry who owned and raced Paddy after Bathurst has kindly agreed to forward the original logbook onto me. A great bonus to getting his history together.

I cant see the issue, they will all clean up, it just makes people appreciate them more after seeing them from the "well used" state to the up and running/restored state!

Its a good thing!

Cheers

I know that but am still sad that I didn't look after them both better.

They had been sitting in that same place in the shed for over 23 years. Wendy was in better condition as she was against the wall.

She had also been in a shed at Hunters Hill before we moved, but Paddy had been sitting out in the weather for 3-4 years.

Part 1 of the Paddy restoration is in issue 1 of The BMC Experience magazine. Lots of before photos, including the car's resting place prior to being exhumed.

Hey Greg, Just had a few questions about both cars and your plans for them. First off we will start with paddy. What are you actual plans for paddy? To restore it to its former bathurst glory? Once done will the car ever see the track again where it belongs or will it simply be a trailer queen show car?

And what about wendy whats the plans for her?

Cheers, Steve

Now I wonder if my local Newsagent has a copy of the magazine? Doubt it very much but I'll be in Sydney soon for the Sydney Royal (exhibiting my poultry again) so will have to hunt up a copy while I'm down there. I liked the preview bit so can't wait to read the rest and see some more photos.

Hi Irene,
Yes Paddy is well on his way to being restored. Car is now totally bare metalled and about to have Andrew Wright turn the rust back into metal. I have spent much of the past few months collecting all the rare pieces needed to get him back to perfect. The ongoing article in BMC experience will hopefully provide a lot of detail on the build and a bit of an insight into what it takes to properly restore a car like this.
G.

Just a note to say that Brian Foley is now 80. I am only a mere pup compared to Brian, but he was one of my Mini hero's in the period.
