Wow i must be in trouble with the coolant then. I just buy what ever is the cheapest at woolies or GoLO or K-mart wherever i am at the time and is premixed and about $10 (from memory I dont think it is even this much - its been a while since i bought it) for 4-5lt container.

A long time back, the ACCC took a lot of these pre mix guys to court. They were selling coolant which was little more than a token sample of glycol in a large amount of water with green dye to make it seem more than it was. Seems as water is still a coolant, they were still able to label it as such, even if the glycol was very little, or non existent in the mix. You get what you pay for, I mix my own using a brand name.

When I was working at a wrecking yard we had a special bottle of coolant. It was a 1.25l coke bottle full of some dark green stuff.
When we fitted an engine or radiator we would fill it with water and add a cap full of dark green stuff.

The "coolant" looked good when the customer lifted the radiator cap!! I don't know how much protection it offered.

I have a little bottle of green fluroscene that would have to be 30 years old, an eye dropper is all you need to colour a bath tub full of water. I wouldnt want to drink it tho its got a picture of Enola Gay on the bottle...

850man you just got sucked in by the same defult thingy on the forum that caught me out a year ago...

Lucky for you I know exactly what you were trying to say ... If you write "Gay" into the forum it comes up with "gay".... so where you wrote "enola gay" it came up "enola gay".

Bloody annoying that! I was trying to make a wise crack about the plane that dropped nuc's on Japan! Not tell everyone about my love life! :)

Hi All
Now that you have all put the alloy radiator down ill stick up for him, if your running a good engine that's making good hp and having trouble keeping it cool run an alloy one with either one or two cores these radiators cool a lot better than your copper three and four core ones the more cores you have the harder it is for the air to pass through it to cool it in the race cars we see 15 to 20 cooler running, in winter we have to block them off to get more temp back into the engine, we have never had a problem with the alloy ones yet but then we buy the ones made in AUSTRALIA you only get what you pay for.

I Agree,

I have my Alloy radiators made for me by a engineering company here in Melbourne and they work very well. I would not bother with the cheap "Ebay" alloy radiators, theres too many bad reports about them.

We use a M1100 radiator in our race car, fortunally it doesnt overheat so the Copper core is fine.

I use distilled water and Redline Water Wetter in all my cars - alloy motors, radiators, water pumps, the lot. No glycol.
