V4 version of Corvette small block could be ideal for a mini. Compact, car based so no probs with oil surge, just run a shaft back to a transaxle, Bob's your mother's brother.

I did check their website. It does look really nice.
Would make nice alternative engine for the Mini IMO.

The weight of the entire KMV4 powertrain, including gearbox, is designed to be under 200 pounds, it's not yet final but it looks to be easily on target. Advantage KMV4.

Now, this is interesting. All of the horsepower figures you've seen so far on the KMV4 have been target figures and listed on the website as 140 minimum, however, as the video clearly shows, the KMV4 has been on the dynamometer. So what did The Kneeslider find out for you?

BMW 160 horsepower, KMV4 161 horsepower. The BMW 6 makes a little less horsepower than the KMV4 and it has 6 cylinders, dual overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder. The pushrod, 2 valve V4 does more. Advantage KMV4.

So, just to recap, compared to the BMW, for the same displacement, the KMV4 has fewer cylinders, fewer moving parts, it's narrower, lighter and makes more power. Cool

I blame my dad for my love of minis. I think I was conceived in the back seat of one
I also blame my Dad for me being 6' 1" - not really the optimum height for driving a Mini.

I had an F100 with a Clevo. On a rainy day I learned what a V4 sounded like. (The distributor is at the front of the motor)
When I broke a camshaft I learned what a big V2 sounded like!

It would be cool to have the sound, but to tell you the truth those figues don't impress me that much.



161 hp @ 7800 & 162 Nm @ 4500 for an expensive one off engine which sounds really cool and no one else has....

Vs

133 hp @ 6400 & 157 Nm @ 4800 for a cheap, standard 4efte which is easily upgradable with cheap parts with toyota reliability.

It does sound good though!

If it was short enough to fit transversely with an end on gearbox and not require any body mods it would be sweet, it looks pretty wide though.

The yanks have been making a V4 based on the small block chev for about 20 years (or more) for speedway cars.



They give 300hp quite easily.

there was a guy in a street machine mag recently who had chopped 6 cylinders of a cleavo and made a v2

chev have been doing it with v6's for ages

DrMini- 1970 wasaMatic 1360, Mk1S crank, 86.6HP (ATW) =~125 @ crank, 45 Dellorto (38 chokes), RE282 sprint cam, 1.5 rockers, 11.0:1 C/R.

I looked on the net and found that they can get 650 on alcohol.
But like most V4s they vibrate badly. But these vibrate more than most. (maybe nearly as bad as a Harley.)

You could leave the A series in and have that!
