Its my own personal preference, I've tried all 10s 12s and 13s, and going from 13s to 10s there is a lot of weight savings in unsprung weight, less torque steer, less/no bump steer, more traction, Overall better handling but brakes are the compromise for this.

Im not saying you dont get more traction im just puzzled as to how this would be? To me im thinking the 10" wheels would take less power to spin them round and the 10" would have less contact patch with the road?

No scientific proof that there is more traction but there is definitely no less. I think the sidewall has a lot to do with it, there is a lot more flex in a 10" 70 sidewall and i think it is more compliant over the road surface and you can run lower pressures and gain more traction.

We'll see when i eventually take it back to the drags.

I have thought about it a bit more and i think that a 175 wide tire with a still sidewall may be too wide and the mini is not heavy enough to use the traction if that makes sense, your spreading the load over a wider contact patch meaning less pressure there to utilise the grip.

that is true.... I've read it in a book somewhere :?

I went down to a vented Tarox 4pot setup with 7.5" discs. Uses the later 8.4" drive flange and machined down metro turbo discs or off the shelf tarox discs in my case.

I will take some photos of the pics and setup later when i have some time.

These brakes are great for road use, you wouldn't reach their limits on the road.

It took some time to reach their limits on the track and i was able to get them to fade but pad wear was pretty poor as almost all of the alloy 4pot calipers have a small pad surface area. I am replacing the pads with Ferodo DS2500 pads and going to see how they go on the track as they are a street/track pad. The original pads i used were only street pads not track orientated at all.

@Mini Mad

Can I ask what supplier you got your tarox brakes from the few I've contacted do not ship to OZ. Also around how much did they cost if you don't mind me asking.

I've currently got a set of 12" wheels but after hearing your experiences I might change to a set of 10" once I get my car on the road and burn through my current rubber.

Cheers,
Isaac
