Just wondering if any one has fitted one of the Eaton Supercharger kits onto a 1275 and if so what is the pluses and minuses?
I was considering a turbo but am now very keen to go down the Supercharger path. :?

Talk to GR before you do it. He has someone's motor sitting there with the new kit on, he and I are both concerned at how flimsily it is mounted. I doubt you would keep the belt tensioned- it needs more work, whoever's kit it is.

Yes I have seen the kit at GR which is on a 1100 motor.

Not sure where that kit came from but I am looking at the Vmaxscart kits.

I have the vmax kit, very nicely put together. Unfortunately the 1275 engine I out it on wasn't suitable but have a rebuilt metro turbo motor almost ready that I am putting it on.

Not really sure of any plus or minus' at this stage as the engine kept overheating. Can say it was bloody quick for the short time it was on.

Thanks
Your response is the encouragement I am looking for.
There is a story in the Jan 2010 MiniWorld mag about this kit and I have also found a story in a 2005 edition of the same mag. Cant really find any thing too negative about the kit. I note in the latest photo that a bracket has been added from the top of the supercharger to one of the thermostat housing bolts, which would give more support to the supercharger pully.

Dependent on which kit you go for, some of them seem to have really long tracts from the carb to the supercharger, I've often wondered how easy it would be to start the car with a setup like this and if there is a risk of icing up.

Reason I raise this, I was talking to Link automotive about the Autorotor kit they sell and asked if it could work with a sidedraft weber and a short manifold rather than the HS6 carb mounted straight to the supercharger. He claimed they had tried them in the past but had starting issues with the weber.

Vmax do a number of kits.
1 with an HIF44 Carb on a long manifold
1 with a weber on a short manifold, the carb is near the brake master cylinders
1 with injection for the later minis.

I hadnt thought about starting but I did notice they have a de icing option.

Yes fairly sure the carby option comes standard with the deicing thing, mine has a small element in the k&n filter.

hey mate.

i was talking to some one, who used this kit & was fitted by vmax.

he said it made the car drive unreal.. torque was great.

the only problem & why he took it from off the car is the whine it makes & it is very loud, mini's are loud though.

i would go the sc12 it is internal bearing set up & does not make a whine sound, unless you like that then go for it! :)

I am now progressing very slowly with my Supercharged engine.

Engine has been all machined by GR and new pistons supplied.

Head has been ported and Rimflow valves fitted

I have started to re assemble the engine
