Hi,
I've just changed my timing belt on the twin cams but I'm not sure if either the cams or the crank have moved. The engine is a pain to get in and out, so I'd like to check it manually. But I don't know how. The crank def moved when I was undoing the balancer, but I can't remember if the belt was tensioned at the time. Is there a link somewhere with pictures?

Don't get too upset. Consider yourself fortunate you have a motor the was sold new in australia so at least you will be able to find help (the 4efte boys aren't so lucky).

get yourself a manual..... there are timing marks on the crank pully and cam sprokets.... very simple after you have done it a coulpe of times....

I got the info I was after on the TeamSwift website. I've just finished putting it all back together this arvo after work. Lucky I checked it as it was out a fair bit. About a 1/4 turn of the crank.

I don't really want to buy a book as I don't think the $50 bucks or so is worth it. The engine is no longer in a swift and it's been modded for turbo. So I'd be buying a whole book for one or two pages at the most.

And JC thanks for the offer of the number, I don't think I'm at the engine starting stage yet. The engine has to go back in first. But I'll keep this contact in mind for later.

There is a list of things to do before it's going again.
Fit new interior (bought from the UK this week)
Fit new Sump and turbo oil return line. The old sump was cracked and leaked oil everywhere
Finish cleaning the leaked oil off the motor
Refit motor
Buy and fit aftermarket ECU
Fix O/S sill, and boot under tyre
Paint (get rid of the Ford Citric Acid)
ETC...

Aaaaah, that one. Know it well. Ah the memories.
