Many ways to do it.

Nigel (Turbo Orangie) welded a new tube to his inner guard then welded that top the floor with gussets. I chose to use a strut brace as OJ says - diagonally braced back to the parcel shelf and the other wheel arch.

Gussets welded to the floor would be the very least I would do.

To having the reinforment with the strut brace, will it still leave enough clearance for the original fuel tank set in place?
