Love the yellow, What colour is that?

And yeah, good luck getting the paint dust off stuff. My last car was sprayed orange and my dad still keeps finding orange stuff in his shed 5 years later...

Top work, cant wait to get to that point in my build.

Thanks for the comments guys. It really is an inspiring part of the build, I just have to keep the excitement under control and not take any short cuts to get it finished quicker! :?

I have fitted new bolts to all the parts I've refitted (stainless where you can see them) and I really recommend this for anyone as it really makes a difference. well worth trying to get 1/4 unf bolts. :)

The colour is whatever yellow devil looks like after 32 years and a couple of recoats. I just matched the new paint to what was on it.

No matter how much you mask up everything and cover it with drop sheets the paint still manages to get everywhere! :x Fun!!

Went for a bit of a spin to check out the cooling system capacity (its 40+ deg C today) and decided to take the digi camera with me.

On a nice quite road:

And then 0- 6000rpm in 4th gear  (not sure of the speed):

The loud annoying noise is the fuel pump under the load bay floor. It doesn't seem this loud in person.

And a question: What rpm/speeds/gear have other conversions had? EG: @60kph in 4th gear, XXXX rpm. I have 12 inch wheels.

Nice, thanks for the vid :) you were doing about 150km/h. 12" tires are not that different to the 13's in overall diameter.

This is what i calculated my speed vs rpm:

Thanks for those speeds and rpms guys. :D Its about what I'd estimated by rpm& seat of pants test. I am using the mini speedo (which obviously needs to be recalibrated) and I'd say its showing about 20% lower than what it should be.

You could just about work out the 0-100kph time from that video.

Not bad I think for a dead stock motor and 6 year old Falkens.

Next? ... Today its in getting a proper wheel alignment done, then I have to send the speedo to perth for calibration and run over all the details and any of my concerns with the engineer to make sure there are no suprises come inspection time. (I'm not 100% sure about the air filter yet. He says it sounds OK but I'll have to send him some pics)
I've ordered a set of Yoko A539s which should arrive next week and they will be fitted before too long as I have decided 2 of my tyres are unroadworthy now and the other 2 should be soon!

<lots of testing and tweaking goes here>

Then I get a non registered vehicle permit and drive it down to Perth (6hrs so it should be a good test for both man and machine) for the Engineers inspection.

Then over the pits, which I was concerned about, but I have talked with the guy who does it and he is quite a modified car enthusiast, so that has put my mind at ease somewhat.

Then go for a 100% legal fang...... :D

Well, its time to get the van engineered, so I've organised temporary rego permit and insurance cover note, and make the 6 HOUR (~600km) trip down to Perth!

The adventure is planned to begin at sparrows fart saturday morning to try to keep out of the heat of the day and I'm planning on meeting up with Alan (Mearcat on Ausmini) to visit the Engineer around 1pm.

I'll be making the trip without a support vehicle so it should be a good test for the mini. :?

I've got a boot full of spares, tools, random nuts, bolts, hoses, etc. and just about ready to go so wish me luck!
