[me CAD illiterate now] :x

CAD illiterate, but a self parking two speed Mini wiper motor wiring expert now :)

Thanks for all your help, Doc. Hopefully this thread will help others in the future. BLMCA might like to include an updated wiring diagram in the next reissue of the Mini Workshop Manual. :?

This post seems to have been pretty much solved now so I have an observation to share. Was the Aussie wiper motor Aussie made? Our UK sourced later Mini's had a Lucas 14W wiper motor that had a different self parker switch. The main gear wheel has a cam on the back and that activates a plunger switch to cut the power. They seem to work OK and I wonder why yours were different.

Regards
Al

Yes, the self-parking two-speed wiper motor 12AUW was Australian made and fitted to the late MK II series Minis and then Clubbies. It was very similar to the UK made 14W motor. See the following thread for a bit more info, including a comment from the Mini King about the wiper motor picture.

Just for The Record, Not all Mk2 Cooper S cars had two speed wipers These where usually only fitted to Police cars, Also as a matter of interest, The first of the clubman's had single speed wiper Motors, The Australian Round Body Wiper motor was introduced In 1968 with Single Speed,

John - thanks. I was just repeating what Doc had said earlier in this thread that late MK II's with lift-up doorhandles had the two speed wipers.

Sory if I offended You, I just thought I should make it clear for others incase they are wondering if the car they have should have a two speed wiper motor

If my memory is correct very late 1969 to early 1970, As you Know I bought a lot of ex Police cars both straight and damaged, I am not sure why, But they did not all have the two speed fitted

Thanks, that is the 14W sure enough. The original gear wheel in the Mini version has a 110 degree wheel. I've fitted a 120 degree wheel and the wipers have a lovely sweep now. These degree markings are stamped into the wheel.

Al

John - absolutely no reason for any sort of apology. I can see how you may have misunderstood my words. I like to state my source when I give opinion on here. Sometimes I say "according to parts book PUB 1056M or workshop manual xxx" or similar. In this case I was quoting what Doc had said earlier and not some other source of my own.

I just had another play with this Clubby 2 speed motor- if you turn the drive plate 180 deg on the gear and refit, it will then autopark on the right (drivers side) of car instead of left.

My 2nd motor has had heaps of water in- only 1/3 of the park plate was left, and all 4 tabs had rotted off it.
But the rest will clean up OK.
