can still remember test driving them when they first came out. The front wheels couldn't take the power in the wet and it kept slippong at every takeoff. But in a mini would be awesome to see.

Picked up the sirion yesterday morning and had to take it to work to pull the front LH rail foward as it was badly bent and couldn't fet to anything. Found that the gearbox mount had broken off and damaged the gearbox case. I'll have to get this welded before final fitment into mini.
Also pulled the motor out also the dash and steering column. They are a pretty small motor/gearbox combo.
Will post pics soon.

I would post pics but don't have a clue how to :( . can someone send me a pm explaining how.
Also that project is on hold as I've got two minis and decided to do one up first to sell and put the money towards the other one.

Well guys I've now been doing the engine conversion since christmas and is getting pretty close to final fitment except for removing for the respray. The main problem has been that the complete firewall had to be cut out and I have fabricated a new one from scratch that also holds the sirion booster and master cylinder.
I don't have the internet at home so haven't been able to post any picks or even get on this site recently but should be able to put some up soon.

Phil

Sounds like a hell of alot of effort. Can these sorts of modificiations (firewall mods) be approved in Tasmania?

Hi guys after all this time away from it I'm about to start working on the sirion conversion again. Have talked to an engineer and he said the firewall mods are passable as I've done some strengthening inside. Lots of redesigning to do on the subframe to make it legal though. I'll take som pics soon and try to upload them.

Well finally back into it. Damn this working on other peoples cars need to work on my own again.
I've now got some rollcage tubing bent up to fit into the front subframe to replace the dodgy looking square tubing that I had previously fitted to it. will be working on it this weekend inbetween painting 1930 ford guards. hopefully will have some photos to put up soon.
