what would be the cheapest conversion kinda thing to a 65 deluxe...?
i've had a look at suzuki gtis, 4eftes, extreme bored out mini engines and vtecs
any others worth considering?
and what would be the best for value...
considering i have an 1100 atm and get beaten by bloody magna wagons...

there are several ways to get somewhere faster than an 1100. These include

- public bus
- a 1275 (who would have guessed  )
- train
- taxi
- hitch hiking
- push bike ( but you have to be mean pedaller)
- Magna station wagon
- pogo stick
- skateboard
- roller blade
- mobility scooter
- getting a lift in a 75 yo nun in a green gemini automatic

and not forgetting getting a piggyback from a legless dwarf

I hope this suggestions help to get you to your destinations faster

There are several other ways  to go faster as well , but basically what is your budget and mechanical skill ? From memory the conversions that have been done have been looking at at least $10,000 , a wild mini motor will be up around $5,000 and then there's the option of the two twin cam bike head kits being discussed on here for a mini motor .

one option that is easier than an engine conversion, and you still end up with a better engine, is a whole car conversion. The beauty of this is you aren't limited to engine size etc. it's even possible to do an AWD/RWD conversion!

all you need is:
    a mini.
a car you'd like to convert to
then all you need to do is:
    sell mini.

done.

Sports is right - you're looking probably $10+k for a conversion, $5k for a hot A series, maybe a little more if you put on a BMW head...

But beyond those costs, you need to budget for brakes. 65 Deluxe - I'm guessing you've still got front drums? If you go a 1275, you should (legally) buy Cooper S discs - you'll be looking at somewhere between $1500 and $2k for them ($2k should get you all new componentry). Alternately, for a 1275 or other conversions, you can look at the later model discs - 8.4", from the Clubman 1275LS, Moke, and UK Minis post 84. You will spend between $1000 and $1500 for this setup ($1500 should get all new componentry), but you need to buy 12" or 13" wheels to go with them - they don't fit under 10" wheels. :(

Minis are fairly cheap to run, great to learn on, and lots of fun, but, unfortunately, they're not always the cheapest to mod... :(

With a neat and tidy original 65 Deluxe you pull the chicks faster than someone in a Magna wagon.
If you want to destroy people of the line get yourself a Mazda rotary and cut all the weight out of it, if you know how to set up a rotary and matching gearbox you can get 330+ reliable horsepower, and no one with a fully-sick whateveritis will stand a chance.
The most powerful factory produced Mini, was the Mini GTS from South Africa and it could do 0 to 100 in 11.8 seconds.
If you want to go fast in Mini you obviously have a spare 10 grand lying around or your missing the point of why we buy a Mini in the first place.

like most people said, if your a handy man and can prep, paint, and fabricate, and are also good with electronics, you can probably do a 4EFTE conversion for around $6-8k, but for real power you would be looking at 10-12k for VTEC gear

If you want to be build good 4efte conversion, budget 10-15k.

You can do everything cheaply or costly. I started my 4efte project with a budget of $7500, knowling full well that, that really means 10 grand. Now I'm thinking 10 grand which means around 12 or 13 grand.

As for cheap or expensive, with a 4efte build... Want traction an LSD to get some traction off the line with all that horsepower you know have? Add around $1000 (I realise they range in price), everything adds up.

I`m not going to comment because you won`t want to spend the right amount of money needed to do it right & it would scare the pants off you even if you did :-)
