Who's going to be the one to call a QLD engineer. Only one of us do it so they don't think its a conspiracy.

www.pro-motive.co.uk Recieved an email back from one of the guys running the business and the price is 4250 pound(with reverse gear). There's also a surcharge for the subframe 100 pound and a couple other bits to grab, it works out to be a touch over $10 000 AUS landed plus engineering and of course R1 motor(can't be any later than 2003) etc.
Thinking long and hard about this one :!:

10k is a big wad of cashin one hit, but also it's probably close to what all the rest of us will have spent by the time we have finished. That kit looks so nice though, you could just put it all in in a few weeks and be going. If I had that cash I'd be tempted to spend it now just to have my car finished.

You would be lucky to get a low km R1 engine for under $2k.

More like $4k and up including loom, air box, throttle bodies, injection, computer and dash.

Plus, I would thinl you would need the Quaiffe diff as well, thats another $1300-1400 right there. The costs soon add up.

You're not wrong about the costs soon adding up :( I've been making some phone calls and you can get a low Km jap import 03 R1 with the necessary bits for $3000 in Sydney, quoted roughly for engineering (if no problems $900-$1400), no Quaife diff would still be looking the best part of $16000 - $17000 to have it finnished in the car. I swear every time I do the figures another grand ends up on the total. Do I have the money to do it, well yes, but I must admit its getting very difficult to remain convinced that it will be money well spent. Infact I can no longer bullshit myself, thats to much money to put an engine into a car (for me anyway) Thanks for the input on the subject.

Don't give in too easy. At the very least get the confirmation in writing about being able to get the motor in

Nanook,

You may be interested in this:
http://www.minimania.com/web/startretur ... thread.cfm

The guy is trying to offload his R1 engine, loom, prolink subframe etc...his post is a bit unclear, but it looks like he is willing to take 5,500 CAD (about 6,500 AUD) - for the prolink frame plus engine (but he could be referring to the mini shell).

Getting it from Canada to Oz may blow the price though??

That box is $3,495 + $319 for output flanges = $5,380 AUD

Pricey, but at least you're not limited to the older R1 engines.

Hayabusa, CBX1100, ZZR1400 are quite tasty

I cant see them letting a electric reverse gear through... I dont think 5K for a box that has a reverse gear in it is too bad for what you'll end up with.
Ha but in saying that if you want to bike power anything why not just get a bike?
