Thanks Daniel,

Ball Bearing GT2560 core with Skyline GTR rear housing A/R.48 and front is .51A/R
Actuator in turbine has also been ported out a fair bit.

Rated at 330hp

Pete

that new turbo looks sexy pete!!!

im guessing a little easier to spin the wheels now

:P

Well, it would be but the quaife does its job well and puts the power to the ground.
With the new clutch I have accidentally 'dropped' it when taking off while I wasnt used to it and it lights em up quick :S

I cant wait to find out.
Definately more power now, but its also more drivable.

I mean, the power is linear now, doesnt come on as hard as before ... it just keeps pulling.

Cheers,
Pete

 Actually I was going to guess GT28R which is really a GT2560 anyway, the one you have. My maths would suggest this is a lazy turbo but with lots up top, ie too much boost down low will be in surge area, be interesting to see how it runs on your engine.

I have been looking at options for mine while the engine is out, now all I need to do is work out how to get more than 160hp out of the EFI (it's current limit due to the charge robbing).

Good Luck Wednesday btw, I can't make it cause of my wedding rehearsal (I know where I'm standing, what do they need me for  )

Yeah, we were worried about that but it seems fine. If I just ran a GT2560R off the shelf I think I would be over the surge line for sure - but with the smaller A/R on turbine and compressor I think its fine.
It pulls from the same rev (starts at 2500-2700 and makes full boost around 4000rpm) my actuator is setup wrong - not enough preload so there is wastegate creep - but ill sort that easy.

How can you really tell if you are over the surge line? I mean, if its on the car, etc can you feel it or detect it somehow?

Haha, simple to fix that mate - piss off the EFI and stick on a HIF44 ;)
Seriously, I think the only way to properly fix charge robbing is to change the setup - true individual runner throttle bodies but thats not really an option on a siamese port is it...
I think the other alternative is to start looking at the Lobe centerline angle...

Again - I reckon either stick on an 8 port or go back to HIF44 ;) easy over 160hp matey...

Thanks mate, will see how we go ay.
Yeah I used to shoot weddings for a living - usually when you say 'No probs, I will rehearse the wedding if you let me rehearse the drinking, partying and wedding night - then they let you go ;)

I've only heard engines operating in surge with the throttle closed, ie with no load. Think chirping, some people like the sound but it can damage the thrust bearings (amoung other things) so most cars run a bypasss or blow off valve. I don't think you will get there under load, you will probably just reach a boost threshold for each rpm, not that boost equals horsepower necessarily.

Here is a videoclaiming to be surge on boost. Notice the sound, its the same basically when you bang throttle shut (the chirping noise) with the air trying to bypass the compressor wheel. They (in the video) would be able to stop this happening by lowering the boost setting for that rpm and is one of the problems running large turbos.

That is never going to happen, I will put a twinky head on, Honda motor conversion, or just sell the car before I go back to a carby  160hp is more than enough for the street I reckon, particularly when the fuel consumption is better than a stock Cooper S.

Ok, ducking for cover a little - since I KNOW DOZ is going to bring back all of my smart a$$ quotes telling him to get rid of Injection and go back to a carby - but here goes:

Phase II of project Jenna has begun.
Ill get some before, during and after pics - but the below photo's should explain whats happening here.

What is it? Its the newest Typhoon 2 ECU (yet to be released) and a TBI Injection setup.
Twin injectors on the 45mm throttle body, ECU, etc etc.
On board boost control, MAP, TPS, launch control, etc etc - this thing does it all... wicked!

In transit from the UK but ill keep posting with the progress.

Cheers,
Peter

Thanks mate! Yeah it's going ok.

Phase II is this then Phase III will be 7 or 8 port. Need to save the $$ first.
I'll SMS you when I'm doing all the injection stuff. Ben and Chong and probably Kev will be here so should be fun. Then over to Griegs with GR I see what we can do with it.

Cheers,
Pete.
