Hi James,

Just seeking permission from the person who sent it to me, to pass it on to you.

Must do the right thing! :D

Cheers,

Thanks Tricky.

Drifter: Anything is possible, but I believe because the engine/driveline is a different configuration to standard (Mid Engine/RWD instead of Fr Eng/ FWD) It requires certification as an individually constructed vehicle (ICV)

Unless you are a gun engineer and fabricator and can build it all yourself to the right standards (with a workshop to match) or have stupid amounts of money for someone else to do it, I wouldn't really think about it. Too hard.

.......That said it can be done, and would be super cool!!

I thought it was pie-in-the-sky stuff, until David got his passed!!

So if I flamed you, my apologies.

Seems mid-mount RWD is plausible (it just goes to show I dont know everything!)

Agreed. Anything is possible, but like '77 clubby van says getting an ICV passed is quite a mission

The way I see it, the best way to get a RWD bike engined vehicle passed would be to have it LPG fuelled, that way it would be exempt from the emissions laws. Even a mid-mounted turbocharged Hyabusa mini would be possible.
And eligible for the $1000 gov. rebate.

Now that liquid LPG injection is here, that is entirely possible

Hi Dicko,

Max width from outside edge of crank pulley to end of gearbox casing 900mm - absolute maximum!!

Typically 4EFTE - 840mm, B16A/B - 870mm, B18C - 875mm, 4G92 - 880mm, G13B - 835mm

Cheers,
Tricky

Okay so general consensis is that 4AGE 20 Valve won't fit ... what about the 4AGZE? Is is it the same engine just supercharged? or is it smaller with a supercharger?

It's from the same family. Same bore x stroke but it has the 16 valve head instead of the 20 valve. Exactly the same dimensions, parts are interchangeable. It would be even harder to fit than the 20 valve as the charger sits right where one of the suspension towers in a mini is.

Guess what buddy? It's been done! I found a few references to a clubby, I'll try and dig them up again :)

The N1 red-tops are as rare as hens teeth. I can't remember the exact figure, but there were only like 500 of them made :o One hell of a motor though!

This gives you a good idea --- SR16VE N1 vs B16B

the mechanic i know had a customer who bought a neovvl motor. he put it into his mini with his own frame. all worked up ready to get engineered but fail everytime.
now the motor sits in the frame in the back of his workshop waiting to be sold. the customer had to sell the mini as well.
i think the customer ended up buying a nissan NX and put ANOTHER neo vvl motor into it. now that also sit in his workshop collecting dust as the customer is building a GTR i think

Was it a SR20VE or an SR16VE, they're both VVL
