Great work Pub, congratulations!

I am going to paint my FMIC matt black to hide it behind the Zeemax spoiler, but I dont know about the two white stripes - may look OK!

I wouldnt go any bigger than 2.5" for your IC pipes - that is heaps big enough!

I marvel at how quick you have been in getting it completed and on the road - you should be congratulated for this.

See you on the road!
Tricky

I think it would look good to have the stripes flow down onto the radiator :)

Is your gear lever the one out of your front cut? looks different to mine - longer (and straight) stick..?

Thanks for the comments guys

From what I have been readong in the forum, the best combo is 2" before IC and 2.5" after IC..

Good idea to paint the IC black.. would help with dissipating heat.. but I like mine silver :D

The gear shifter is what came with the half cut.. I just straightened out the lever so the whole thing can sit as back as possible.. this proved to be the most ergonomic for me.. I like having the gear knob up a bit high :)

The steering wheel is not in the best position I have realised.. so I will be grafting the starlet one into the mini at some stage to bring the wheel facing the driver more.. not like a semi-trailer steering wheel! :P

I'll keep everyone posted on the progress

Cheers

I'd just leave the intercooler piping mate......the aesthetic value of having symmetrical pipes at the front would outweigh the minor performance gain IMO....

You can still extract more from the engine without changing that......and it didn't sound like you thought it was slow :)

I wouldnt under estimate the CT9 mate,

for a small car like this, a quicker spooling turbo would be good.. will make it good for traffic light racing

plus... all I plan to do is whack on a boost controller + SAFC neo ( or jaycar DFA), get a new mani, wind the boost up to 14 psi... and say hellow to approx 150 fwhp :D

That should be enough to give me mild heart attacks for a looong time :)

Cheers

progress update: got the rear wheel cylinders, fixed em up.. bled the system.. she's ready to go again!

Have to adjust the clutch again though.. the useful travel on the clutch is around 15mm worth!.. I built this spacer for the slave but looks like I will have to remove it.

Time for another drive! :D :D :D

As much as I hate to say it, go the White Stipes

Should match in with the theme of the car

got a tdo4 on my starley, is an absolute rocket. dono how much room you have left in the engine bay for it but its always an option if you wanna scare yourself even more lol.

good work with it bud, very jealous, would do anything for a 4efte mini :D

anything else needed to be done until you get it on the road legally?

cheers
Rodney

I've been recommened, strongly to stick with the CT9. A new manifold and a boost controller is all you need for silly performance for a Mini.

Good work on the Mini Pubudu, I'll have to see it in the flesh sometime.

Say, Mini's At The Mill this November?

yeah... I agree with hallsey

What I plan to do is..

new manifold ( probably import one from US given the exchange rates at the moment)

boost controller - probably a eboost-2 for gear based boost selection

SAFC-II or jaycar DFA - to sort out fuelling

This way... if I feel like a TD04L, can just make up an adaptor plate and new dump and sorted.

Took it for another drive today... dropped the pressure on the front tyres a wee little bit. ( I think they were over inflated.. I was running like 32.. is this too high or what???

)Car behaved very well. but suddenly the boost dropped and no more power :? .. turbo was spinning but no boost... one of IC piping had popped out  .. forgotten to tighten the clamp..

I'm off to Melbourne for 2 days.. will keep everyone updated

Cheers

Hi Pub,

Well mate well done all coming together. Pipped me by 2 months on the build too ya bugger (actually it was 18 months to rego but you will still pip me :) ). Looks very neat and great effort. My 2c about the IC piping is that 2" is more than sufficient for 1.3L, I think there alot of the time this is more to do with "mine's bigger" than with actually tailoring the system to the engine. Small pipe = restrictive, big pipe = big volume but less pressure and hence flow speed. As for the turbo, use the CT9 to get it on the road (having the standard turbo on their will make it much easier to rego). Go a bigger turbo at some later date especially once any bugs a ironed out.

Also finally spoke to that guy about installing a full ECU, didn't fill me with enthusiasm so the DFA starts this weekend. 92 I might give you a PM as I believe you have installed one of these?

I have the same clicking and for me it seemed to be coming from the idle control valve but doesn't seem to make much difference...

Cheers

Matt

thanks for the info matt,

Yeah CT9 is definitely stayin on for now. I am running a full 2" IC system now.. there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with it.

I really need to be taken around in some other 4efte engines with other setups to feel the difference I reckon.. anynow.. I'll stick to what I have got.

small bugs are being ironed out every time I take it for a test run.. I think my brake master is is going to sh*t itself soon.. :?

The pedal seems very sluggish the first half and its hard like whats its meant to be. I think my first set of seals ( the front circuit) is stuffed. Will need to put a rebuild kit on this. Is this a common problem to get the front circuit seal go first??

Thanks for all your help so far guys.. really appreciate it

Ok boys,

I just thought I'd take advantage of the favourable exhange rates with the US to get something down. Have a look at this site:

http://speedvisioncps.com/

Its good lots of goodies for the ep82. One good thing is the stainless manifold for the CT9 at US$295 ( approx AU$320) + shipping of approx $40

This thing seems like a better version to the ebay model ( ZENA racing) which is AU$280 landed.

There is also a TD04L kit for approx AU$1400 which doesnt seem too bad considering you get a set of injectors too!

What are peoples opinions on these? ( expecially the CT9 manifold) Cheers
